Mission
To ensure that public swimming pools are constructed and operated in a safe and sanitary manner.
The emergency regulations have now been codified as final regulation, effective August 7, 2022. For a summary of the changes to the plan and specification review process, please read this letter to aquatic venue applicants and licensees on June 6, 2022.
What we do
- Review construction plans, license approved pools, inspect operating pool facilities for water quality, sanitation and safety. All project plans submitted for review will be tracked on this webpage.
- Collect and analyze pool water quality samples for bacteria, chlorine, pH, and temperature; for more information, see Operating a Licensed Public Pool.
- Connect the public with resources to verify an aquatic venue license or to see if an aquatic venue has received a violation.
- Guide applicants in the use of the appropriate aquatic venue applications per RI Regulations, Licensing Aquatic Venues 216-RICR-50-05-4; for application downloads and guidance, see Aquatic Venue Licensing.
