Mission

To ensure that public swimming pools are constructed and operated in a safe and sanitary manner.

The emergency regulations have now been codified as final regulation, effective August 7, 2022. For a summary of the changes to the plan and specification review process, please read this letter to aquatic venue applicants and licensees on June 6, 2022.

What we do

Review construction plans, license approved pools, inspect operating pool facilities for water quality, sanitation and safety. All project plans submitted for review will be tracked on this webpage.

Collect and analyze pool water quality samples for bacteria, chlorine, pH, and temperature; for more information, see Operating a Licensed Public Pool.

Connect the public with resources to verify an aquatic venue license or to see if an aquatic venue has received a violation.

Guide applicants in the use of the appropriate aquatic venue applications per RI Regulations, Licensing Aquatic Venues 216-RICR-50-05-4; for application downloads and guidance, see Aquatic Venue Licensing.
