Tobacco Information for Providers
All health plans in Rhode Island now cover cessation services, outpatient counseling and nicotine replacement therapy. Patients should contact their insurance providers for more information on coverage. The statewide tobacco cessation committee
and its' co-chair, Rhode Island State Representative Eileen Naughton, have provided information about cessation resources (more).
The Tobacco Control Program provides tools and resources to providers and their patients:
- Time is running out to get a two-week supply of nicotine patches for your patients through the QuitWorks program.Offer ends June 30, 2012 or while supplies last! All Rhode Island QuitWorks referred patients are eligible. (Must be 18 years old or older; while supplies last; medical restrictions apply. patient enrollment form).
- Telephone support: our Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW directs smokers or those who care about smokers to the quitting program that will work best for them or their loved ones.
- Quitworks: a free, evidence-based stop-smoking service developed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in collaboration with all major health plans in Massachusetts.
- Online cessation support: smokers ready to make a quit attempt can find online smoking cessation support at QuitNowRI.
