Purpose

To assess adolescent behavioral health risks.

Key Information

Health risks about tobacco use as reported by public school students grades 6 through 12 on the Youth Risk Behavior Survey.

Key Findings

  • Since 2009, the percentage of students who currently smoke cigarettes, cigars or use smokeless tobacco has declined.
  • 1 in 4 High School students still used tobacco in 2015.
  • In 2015, data about student e-cigarette use were collected for the first time. More students used e-cigarettes than any other tobacco product.
