How to Apply

  1. Check Your Eligibility

  2. Complete Enrollment Form

If you appear to be eligible for WIC benefits, you will receive an email with a link to the online enrollment form and information about the next steps.

A WIC staff member will contact you within 2 business days to schedule an appointment. You may contact your preferred local WIC office sooner if you wish or if you have not heard from them within 2 business days.

Completing the enrollment form online before your appointment is preferred but not required. It helps prepare you for the application process and makes your appointment go more smoothly.

To get certified and receive WIC benefits, the applicant must attend a scheduled appointment.

  3. Prepare for Your Appointment

Be ready to provide the following documents:

    • Parent/Guardian proof of income (e.g., pay stub, employer letter, or SNAP/Medicaid participation)
    • Parent/Guardian proof of Rhode Island residency (e.g., utility bill, lease)
    • Proof of identity for everyone applying and the parent/guardian (e.g., ID, birth certificate, Medicaid card)

Infants and children applying for WIC must attend the appointment, unless otherwise specified.

Having trouble gathering documents? Let your local WIC office know. Staff can explain what other documents may be accepted.
