Emergency Information for People with Special Needs

Individuals who need immediate assistance (non-medical, non-life-threatening) during emergencies should call 211, and they will be directed to the right contact.

Rhode Island Special Needs Emergency Registry

The Rhode Island Special Needs Emergency Registry provides a reliable system for the identification of Rhode Islanders who may require special assistance during emergencies. If needed during a response to an emergency, the Department may use the registry to identify high-risk individuals and send emergency alert information to enrollees. Rhode Island adults and children with disabilities, chronic conditions, and special healthcare needs are urged to enroll in the registry.

Access to prescriptions

If you are unable to access your regular pharmacy to pick up a prescription, you can call the pharmacy and ask to have the prescription transferred to another pharmacy. Major chain pharmacies can contact any individual pharmacy where a prescription was filled and have the prescription transferred to a pharmacy of the patient's choice.
