These data were collected between August and November, 2012

Rhode Island Numbers

More than 900 Rhode Island residents from 30 communities, representing both smokers and non-smokers, were asked to rate how supportive they would be if different outdoor areas were designated smoke free. Overall, respondents, including those who smoke, favored such bans.

  • 86% either "like" or "love" the idea of designating beaches smoke free.
  • 89% either "like" or "love" the idea of designating parks smoke free.
  • 92% either "like" or "love" the idea of designating playgrounds smoke free.
