Changes to Healthcare Professional Licensing Office Visits
Important Update: If you are planning on coming in person to RIDOH to speak with a staff member regarding your healthcare professional license, be aware that updated security protocols have been put in place. A QR code is now located in the lobby for you to scan with your mobile phone. You must respond to a few questions regarding your visit. Once completed, a staff member will come to get you shortly.
If your visit is for a nonhealthcare professional licensing program such as Facilities Regulation, Food Protection, Drinking Water or Healthy Homes, do not use the QR code. When you arrive on our premises, please contact these programs directly and program staff will escort visitors to and from the lobby. If you are unsure where your licensing program is located, please see the Cannon Building's Capitol Police Officer, who will assist and can call program contacts (The Capitol Police will have a detailed program listing).
RIDOH Professional Licensees Should be Aware of Phone Scam
Many RIDOH licensed professionals have been the target of a scam in which people pose as investigators from the Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline (BMLD) or the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Callers will falsely state that a license is suspended or under investigation and they will request personal information, like a physician’s NPI number, DEA registration number, and financial information.
The various licensing boards use the email address on file for all correspondence and never request personal information over the telephone.
