If you’re a Veteran looking for assistance—or know someone who is—a wide range of services are now available, from peer counseling to support with health, housing, employment, and much more. 988/Veterans Crisis Line
If you or someone you know are having thoughts of suicide; experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis; or are in emotional distress, you can call or text 988 or chat with 988 at 988lifeline.org. Trained crisis counselors are available 24/7 to listen, support, and help.

Vet Center
The Vet Center offers confidential help for Veterans, service members, and their families at no cost in a non-medical setting. Services include counseling for needs such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma. The Vet Center can also connect you with more support in VA and your community. It is located in Warwick, RI. Visit the Vet Center website.
The Samaritans
The mission of The Samaritans is to help reduce the incidents of suicide in Rhode Island through greater access to information and resources. To achieve this mission, The Samaritans recognizes that suicide prevention is a process involving many community resources. As an agency that is not a licensed health care facility, The Samaritans believes its role within the suicide prevention process works best when volunteers, those left behind by suicide, and other volunteer and professional stakeholders step forward. Rhode Island Office of Veterans Services
