Clams Recalled from Warren Shellfish Dealers
Published on Friday, October 09, 2026
The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is advising consumers that Rhode Island Seafood Company, located in Warren, has initiated a recall of clams that were harvested on September 22, 2026 from a harvest area that had been closed because of rainfall. Heavy rain can prompt closures in clamming areas because stormwater runoff can make products unsafe to eat.
All clams harvested on that date were sent to Tony’s Seafood in Warren. Tony’s Seafood is notifying customers and is removing affected products from commerce. Products were shipped to other locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut. These out-of-state contacts are also being notified. No illnesses have been reported in association with this recall.
People who believe they are sick from something they ate should report it through RIDOH’s foodborne illness complaint system either by phone at 401-222-2749 or through RIDOH’s online form.
