The State of Rhode Island will lead the national efforts to reduce antimicrobial-resistant, healthcare-associated infections.
To provide resources to healthcare facilities to create and implement antimicrobial stewardship programs and improve infection control practices throughout the state of Rhode Island for the citizens of Rhode Island. This can only be accomplished through collaboration with private, not-for-profit, government partners, along with the general public.
The geographic size of Rhode Island offers advantages in communication and personalized outreach to a relatively centralized hospital network. In addition, Rhode Island has nationally and internationally-recognized experts in the treatment, control, and prevention of multi-drug resistant microbial pathogens.
