The Healthcare Quality Reporting Program began publishing information on physicians’ use of computers in 2007 and is adding nurse practitioners and physician assistants later in 2014. This information can help you compare how different practitioners use computers when caring for patients.
The Health Information Technology Survey looks at how many doctors, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physicians Assistants use computers and how often they use them in their practice. Using computers is better than not, and high percentages of use are better still. It is important to remember that this is only one measure of the quality of care provided by your doctor.
