The Executive Committee of the Counseling Compact has approved Draft Rules to be posted for public comment. The public comment period is open from February 16, 2026, through April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. MT.
The draft rules (Chapter 8 Conversion and Chapter 9 Consistent Credentialing) and information on how to provide public comment are found on the website at https://counselingcompact.org/compact-commission/rulemaking.

The Counseling Compact allows eligible licensed mental health counselors an alternative method for providing services in other member states. If you are interested in learning more about the Counseling Compact please use the following link: https://counselingcompact.org/compact-commission. While this legislation has passed in RI, the compact is not currently operational.
