Submitting Forensic Evidence

Forensic evidence is any material object that may be tested using scientific methodology yielding test results and testimony that is usable in a court of law.

The Center for Forensic Sciences accepts evidence in criminal investigations only. Submissions from the public or those related to civil cases are not accepted.

The Lab is Moving!

The Lab will temporarily suspend evidence submission to move to its new space. Dates vary based on the type of evidence submitted. Learn more.

Evidence Submission Location/Hours

State Health Laboratory, 50 Orms St., Room 306, Providence, RI 02904. Evidence Receiving is open from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 NOON, Monday-Friday. Impaired driving cases from law enforcement agencies are accepted from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., in Room 304.
