Opioids Panel in Urine
Urine is extracted and analyzed by LC/MS/MS
All residual urine specimens from any hospital patient receiving treatment for a suspected overdose must be sent to the State Health Laboratories for confirmatory analysis
Non-Fatal Overdose
Collect urine in sterile cups within 48 hours. Optimal volume 4-7 mL, minimum volume 2 mL.
Freeze at -20°C ± 5° until transport to RISHL.
CLIA regulations require two patient identifiers on the specimen and the test requisition

Specimens must be transported on wet ice or equivalent cooling material and packaged in accordance with current federal shipping regulations.
