Community Health Centers

Community Health Centers provide comprehensive primary care for all patients regardless of age, income, or insurance status on a sliding-fee schedule based on the patient’s ability to pay. To ensure access for all, Community Health Centers also provide services including language interpretation and translation, transportation, and case management. Due to capacity limitations, not all Centers may be accepting new patients. Call the site in your area to find out if they have openings and to schedule an initial visit. Note that proof of income may be required for discounted or free care. The Rhode Island Health Center Association coordinates the state's Community Health Centers. more

Community Mental Health Centers

The Rhode Island Council of Community Mental Health Organizations comprises private, non-profit community mental health organizations that join together to form a united voice of public advocacy for people with mental illness. One of these organizations, Newport County Community Mental Health, provides behavioral health services to individuals, families, and the community financed through federal, state and municipal funds, special grants, Medicaid, private insurance, donations, and local-state matching grants that help subsidize free care. more

Rhode Island Free Clinic

The Rhode Island Free Clinic provides comprehensive free medical care to uninsured Rhode Island adults from 19 through the age of 64. The Clinic is located at 655 Broad Street, third floor, South Providence. Services to Rhode Island adults are available for those at or below 200% of the poverty level. Types of services provided include: primary care, specialty care, labs and diagnostics, and medications. Spanish interpreters are available. more

Clinica Esperanza/Hope Clinic

Clinica Esperanza/Hope Clinic is a free clinic that provides preventive health screenings and medical exams to uninsured adults and preventive health screenings at the Open Table of Christ Church at 1520 Broad Street in Providence on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. Clinica Esperanza is located in the Olneyville section of Providence at “The Plant” at 60 Valley Street, Unit 5, next to the Cuban Revolution restaurant. more
