Nicotine Pouches: Not Buying It

Nicotine pouches, such as Zyn, On!, and Velo, are increasing in popularity in Rhode Island. They are often marketed as an alternative to smoking or vaping, but that does not mean they are harmless. These tobacco products contain nicotine, which is addictive and dangerous to developing brains. Nicotine pouches can also poison babies, toddlers, and pets who may accidentally eat them.

Some people wonder if nicotine pouches will help them quit smoking or vaping. The FDA has not approved any nicotine pouch as a safe and effective quit-smoking aid.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has created social media messages to give people the facts about nicotine pouches. Please help us raise awareness of the health risks of these products and promote quit-smoking resources that are proven to work.
