Mission
To protect the health of all Rhode Islanders by providing equitable access to safe and effective immunizations. We are committed to preventing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases through comprehensive education, outreach, and accessible vaccination services, ensuring the well-being of individuals and communities across the state.
What we do
- Coordinate various immunization programs throughout Rhode Island.
- Improve and sustain vaccination coverage levels.
- Track vaccine returns to stay under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention annual 5% allowance for waste.
- Ensure that vaccine providers comply with Vaccines for Children (VFC) program requirements through performance site visits.
- Maintain effective systems for vaccine quality assurance.
- Provide community- and school-based vaccination programs.
- Conduct quality improvement programs in collaboration with immunization providers.
- Engage with community members and organizational partners to provide evidence-based outreach and health education about immunizations, vaccine safety, and disease prevention.
Accomplishments
- Achieved high overall immunization rates, including the #1 national ranking for HPV vaccine coverage.
