The Initial Lead Renovator course provides the required training for individuals who perform or supervise renovation, repair, and painting (RRP) activities, as well as lead hazard control activities, in pre-1978 residential and child-occupied facilities in Rhode Island. The course covers lead health effects, applicable federal and Rhode Island regulations, and required lead-safe work practices, including containment, dust control, cleaning verification, and documentation. A hands-on skills component evaluates the proper setup and cleaning procedures for containment in accordance with EPA RRP standards. Successful completion qualifies participants for the Rhode Island Lead Renovation Firm license.
