The Lead Inspector course trains individuals to conduct lead-based paint inspections and lead hazard evaluations in residential and child-occupied facilities throughout Rhode Island. Instruction includes lead health effects, federal and state regulations, inspection and sampling protocols, quality control, and report preparation. Participants receive hands-on training using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers and approved paint, dust, and soil sampling methods. Successful completion qualifies participants to apply for a Rhode Island Lead Inspector-in-Training license after passing a state examination.
