This virtual meeting will include a briefing on the Rural Health Transformation Program grant application that the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on November 3. Thank you to everyone who provided input into what we think is a strong proposal. We are excited about the opportunity to strengthen access to high-quality, sustainable, and community-driven health care for residents of Rhode Island’s rural and island communities. View application details.
The meeting will also include a discussion about the next steps in Rhode Island's Health Care System Planning process, which will focus on writing Rhode Island’s long-term State Health Plan.
- Over the past year and a half, the Health Care System Planning team has come together around five key health sectors: Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Hospitals, Long-Term Care, and Health Related Social Needs.
- With community partners, the team wrote the 2024 Foundational Report, with a large number of recommendations for improving our health care system.
- Now, the team is preparing for the next step in the process: writing the Rhode Island 2026 Health Care Plan, focusing on key goals and setting measurable targets to reach them.
- This will be a public/private process, affirming Rhode Island’s healthcare priorities and setting measurable targets to achieve in the next 10 years.
