The 10 essential services of public health are the guiding framework in the United States for the responsibilities of public health systems.
Performance measures are tools that help managers strengthen decision-making, streamline efficiencies, and improve organizational performance. Individual programs determine the activities needed to reach those goals.
A culture of ongoing quality improvement activities throughout a health department is necessary to achieve Public Health Accreditation. Once accreditation is achieved, we reapply every five years. Quality improvement activities are part of the application and renewal processes.
