What we do

Test samples collected by the RI Department of Health, the Department of Environmental Management, other state agencies, public water systems, and private homeowners for a variety of substances that can be harmful to human health.

Perform tests in accordance with strict scientific standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Center for Disease Control .

Monitor wastewater for human pathogens.

Maintain emergency laboratory capacity to respond to incidents such as contaminated public water supplies, flooding, and contaminated food.
