To protect the health of consumers of fruits and vegetables that are typically consumed raw.
What we do
Provide education, outreach, and technical assistance to Rhode Island produce growers to increase knowledge of the requirements of the Produce Safety Rule.
Participate in regional and national produce safety partnerships to ensure uniform application of the Produce Safety Rule.
Partner with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management – Division of Agriculture (regulatory inspection and compliance) and University of Rhode Island – Food Safety Education Program (training, outreach, and technical assistance) to complete the statewide Produce Safety Program.
