Asthma Home Visits

  • These classes help families find, manage, and fix asthma triggers in the home; teach how to use an inhaler, and other medication, correctly. They also help tenants understand their housing rights.

    Target Audience: Families who have children with severe asthma who live in Providence, Central Falls, Pawtucket and Woonsocket.

Breathe Easy at Home

  • If a landlord will not fix a suspected housing code violation that is triggering asthma, the Breathe Easy at Home rogram helps doctors contact building officials. We also help tenants get legal support.

    Target Audience: Renters living in Providence, Central Falls, Pawtucket and Woonsocket housing that contributes to asthma.

Certified Asthma Educators

  • Certified Asthma Educators are experts in how to manage asthma and minimize its impact.

Draw a Breath Asthma Program

  • Asthma education program for children and their parents designed to provide families with the knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively manage asthma and to reduce emergency room and overnight hospital stays for asthma. Improves child and family knowledge and confidence in managing asthma. The Draw a Breathe Program's group-based approach creates a unique learning environment in which both children and caregivers learn from, and are motivated by, each other. Offered in English and Spanish.

    Target Audience: Families with a child with asthma are eligible to take part in the program

Living Well Rhode Island, Chronic Disease Self-Management

  • Led by certified Peer Leaders, this workshop teaches people ways to manage symptoms and medications, communicate with family and doctors, handle difficult emotions, relax, eat well, exercise, and set goals to improve health and lifestyles. Group sessions meet for 2 1/2 hours per week for 6 weeks. Classes are held in both English and Spanish.

    Target Audience:Adults (18+ years old) who have, or who care for someone with, a chronic condition such as asthma, arthritis, cancer, COPD, diabetes, or heart disease

Project Case

  • Project CASE (Controlling Asthma in Schools Effectively) works with elementary schools to offer Hasbro's Draw a Breathe classes for students with asthma, give training for school staff about asthma needs at schools, improve the school's indoor air quality, and promote the use of Asthma Action Plans. Improve asthma care coordination between school nurses, teachers, healthcare providers, and families.
